Health And Healing

I have found it very valuable to clarify how I think and work to support and encourage healing and health.

Health is not just absence of signs and symptoms of disease. It is a balanced state of being. A balanced state of being is more easily achieved/enabled by clear communication between all 'parts' of you. I will try to explain.

Your being consists of a few parts, or aspects. The physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your being are all equally important and intricately connected, affecting one another in a variety of ways. When all of your aspects are able to connect, that is, communicate effectively, balance is maintained. You can self-regulate, heal and maintain health. If, on the other hand, enough of these connections become blocked, your communication system breaks down. Your being is out of balance. Health declines. Symptoms of illness manifest.

My attempt, as physician, is to discover what in you is mis-communicating? What is blocking you from self-regulating, healing and maintaining health? Your signs and symptoms are your body's attempt to heal what is out of balance. They are my clues, guiding me to the areas desiring support and attention. I do not treat symptoms but instead the physiology underlying them.

Much of my job is to educate you in the mysterious ways in which healing sometimes occurs. You are the one doing the work, making the choices to improve your health. I am the facilitator offering suggestions based upon my understanding, knowledge and experience of how to support healing and enhance health.

Your being is very dynamic, always trying to balance, regulate, maintain..., 'heal' itself. Whole health is when all aspects of your complex being are in balance. Health is the natural tendency of the body. I am a facilitator of health.
